Winter!

Winter is here - and winter means boots, gloves, hats, scarves, collars, coats and the occasional tie, not because we have to (especially in Sydney), but because it looks good.

And what is the done thing when one is so attired?

Go to the opera, of course!

Opera Australia's winter season consists of The Barber of Seville, Il trovatore, The Abduction from the Seraglio, A Streetcar Named Desire, Il trittico, The Tales of Hoffmann, The Gondoliers and Tannhäuser.

So who's in? Time and date (and indeed opera) to be decided by general consensus.

Some upcoming singing engagements

If anyone is interesting in hearing Capella Sublima (starring moi! amongst others) sing, we will be performing at the following events:

  • Saturday 23rd June - St Mary's Cathedral.
Two weddings, one at 10am and one at 2:30 pm.

  • Sunday 24th June - Joint concert with So La Voce - Venue TBA (central Sydney somewhere).

  • Saturday 6th or 13th October - public concert at Jenolan Caves

If you'd like further details of any of these engagements, or want to let me know you're coming along, or you'd like to hear some recordings of our past work, send me an email.

Back in the job market

Well, that was an interesting adventure. But it's over now.

After getting my second warning last night, I decided to jump rather than be pushed. Management don't seem to have any real appreciation for the challenges involved in getting machines to "understand" or at least "respond appropriately" to human language, and that made for unrealistic expectations from me. Tellingly, they've been through quite a few people for this position. So I'll just be one in a list of "NLP guys who've left". Whatever.

Back to trawling seek.com.au, I suppose.

Random Posting

More with the random stuff.

It's a beautiful day! I was given a task at work last night that I can *actually do*! What a difference to my outlook that makes. Lunch with Sam in a bit, weather's fantastic, not too hot, the sun's out, I'm going to England, and to France! (Well, actually that's months away, but I'm still excited).
