Three and a half months!
That's how long it took for Google to decide that I wasn't qualified for the position I had applied for. The official word:
There isn't currently a position within the ... group that aligns with your skills and experience.Perhaps they didn't read my resume. If they had, they might have picked up on that a bit sooner, and I wouldn't have spent the last 3 and a half months emotionally preparing to leave the country.

For a little while! Mwahahahaha.
I've applied for two other positions with them, one of which I might even have a chance at. Seeing as I'm obviously not qualified to write code, perhaps I can write about code. i.e. documentation. English I can handle, better than many a code monkey.
Failing that, I'll start with other companies, and not restrict myself to Ireland.
Aargh - blogger just ate my comment. Most annoying.
Anyway, please consider all previous good-luck wishes to carry over onto the extended search! Code-monkeying is way overrated, anyway (alpha code freeze tommorow - such fun).
There are a bunch of IT-related jobs listed here if you're looking for more alternatives...
Oh no! I think Google should give anyone who manages to survive the three-month interview process a job on the grounds of perseverance alone. At the very least they could give you a voucher for skiing lessons.
Hello Paul! And welcome to my blog.
There are many consolations to having to stay around for a little bit longer - such as not having to move just yet (believe me I was dreading that - don't know how you do it each year), and of course, I get to continue (or should I say reinstate) my tennis/coffee/singing/dancing regime, which would have been seriously impacted by living somewhere where I don't know anyone who plays tennis/drinks coffee/sings/dances.
